The name of the wind can't be put into words.

We only tend to visit the sea when it's warm and sunny, but I developed a love for grey, misty and rainy days at the beach. It's at these moments that a handful of people are walking on the sand, battling against the wind and rain. What brings them to the beach on a miserable day like this? What are they thinking about? Are they broken or in love? They're all searching for a way to escape the daily struggle. A way to clear their mind and take back control. I want these images to represent a feeling of 'being alone with your thoughts', being alone in a desolate environment. Overthinking about what was, what is and what should be, eventhough we are so small compared to our surroundings and can't control everything. Let these captures be a reminder of learning to let go and take a deep breath. A small bay where I caught myself overthinking my images. "Will they be good? The weather is so bad, how can I fix this? How will I edit these photos?" Watching the waves made my thoughts calm down. Realizing I had to stop over-analyzing everything, just enjoy and capture the environment. In the end I'm very happy with this set of images, it reminds me of a moment where I was able to gain back control of my mind and appreciate this beautiful scenery without thinking about 'what's next'. Recently I came back from a 12 days journey in Portugal. The weather wasn't as what I expected it to be, a lot of grey days. Because of this weather I was able to complete a set of images on which I'm very proud of. The title of this project gives you a big clue about the focus of this series. I tried to capture isolated persons in an abstract environment. I kept the environment and the lines in the images as minimalistic as possible. I also chose for black and white because it compliments with the minimal compositions. Feel free to comment down below or send me a message on instagram if you have any feedback.
